Good to know

Is the whole plate printed?

For the birds, the figure alone: the original backgrounds are cropped so the bird sits on clean paper. The taxonomy plates are printed complete.

Where do the plates come from?

From public collections that have released their scans of Audubon's Birds of America and the nineteenth-century butterfly plates into the public domain; the source is credited on every sheet.

How is it printed and framed?

Like every print here: giclée printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper with archival pigment inks, then framed by hand in solid wood — a classic frame in eight colours or a box frame, with or without a mount — or sent rolled for a frame you already have. Made to order and posted tracked; the print guide has the sizes.
