Good to know

Why a crop?

The originals are woodblock prints with a title cartouche and a signature in the image. The modern crop keeps the composition and loses the frame so it sits with contemporary prints.

Are these Hokusai's own prints?

They are reproductions of the woodblock prints, from museum scans released into the public domain; the crop, the paper and the frame are ours.

How is it printed and framed?

Like every print here: giclée printed on 200 gsm enhanced matte fine-art paper with archival pigment inks, then framed by hand in solid wood — a classic frame in eight colours or a box frame, with or without a mount — or sent rolled for a frame you already have. Made to order and posted tracked; the print guide has the sizes.
